Fong was born in Malaysia and settled in Australia in 1980 where he completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts at Newcastle University. He is attracted by the enduring nature, the stability, the dependability and the timelesness represented by stone. Working from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland Australia for the last three decades he has expressed his passion and emotions looking for the beauty in the simplicity which can be found in natural materials such as stone.
